Talmudiste italien de premier plan, né vers 1180, probablement à Trani, ancien centre d'étude juive, et mort vers 1250, après avoir vécu surtout à Venise. Correspondant de Simḥa de Spire et de ses élèves — dont Isaac ben Moïse de Vienne —, il fut le plus éminent représentant de l'érudition talmudique en Italie, rédigeant des commentaires sur presque tout le Talmud sous forme de tossafot, de ḥiddoushim et de pesaḳim, ainsi qu'un commentaire du Pentateuque, le « Nimmuḳim », imprimé en annexe au « Pené David » d'Azoulaï (Livourne, 1792). Ses tossafot furent réunis en deux recueils publiés à Lemberg en 1861 et 1869.
