Head of Zionist activity in northern Tunisia and founder of the Zionist association of Cap Bon, he was delegate of Tunisia to the 1920 Zionist Congress. During the German occupation, he translated into Judeo-Arabic a Hebrew novel by Abraham Mapou and added a preface on the liberation of Nabeul by the Allies.
