Membre de la communauté judéo-portugaise d'Amsterdam, Isaac ben Elijah Cohen Belinfante fut prédicateur, poète de langue hébraïque et grand bibliophile. Actif dès les années 1750 dans la vie littéraire hébraïque d'Amsterdam, il compila des anthologies manuscrites et fit imprimer les œuvres de ses contemporains. Il révisa aussi le rituel séfarade imprimé à Amsterdam.
