Né à Alep en 1755, dayyan et enseignant à la yeshiva de la ville. Après la mort de sa famille dans la peste de 1787, il entreprend vers 1814 un long voyage (Terre d'Israël, Égypte, France, Italie), séjournant plusieurs années à Livourne où il publie ses ouvrages. Auteur de responsa, de sermons et de novellae talmudiques.
