Poète italo-hébraïque et savant, formé notamment par son frère aîné Jacob. Avec Jacob il mena une guerre littéraire (1664-1667) contre les partisans de Shabbetaï Tsvi et contre la kabbale. Après avoir erré (jusqu'à Alger), il s'établit à Livourne. Son œuvre la plus connue, Metek Sefatayim, est un traité de prosodie hébraïque.
