Historien et médecin espagnol des quinzième et seizième siècles. Envoyé par les communautés espagnoles collecter l'argent de la rançon des prisonniers de Malaga, il vécut aussi comme marrane à Lisbonne, où il fut témoin du massacre, avant de s'échapper vers la Turquie, probablement Andrinople, où il rédigea le « Shebeṭ Yehudah », récit des persécutions des juifs dans différents pays et époques, complété et édité par son fils Joseph ibn Verga. L'ouvrage, imprimé pour la première fois en Turquie vers 1550, fut traduit en judéo-allemand dès 1591 à Cracovie, puis en espagnol par Meïr de León à Amsterdam en 1640.
