Historien, kabbaliste et probablement mathématicien et astronome espagnol du quinzième siècle, né à Séville et martyrisé à Lisbonne. Tenu en haute estime par le gouverneur d'Andalousie, il défendit un jour par un écrit kabbalistique des juifs accusés à tort d'un crime, et s'efforça de maintenir l'entente entre marranes et juifs avant de fuir à Lisbonne, où l'Inquisition finit par le capturer et le faire mourir sous la torture. Il rédigea une histoire des persécutions des juifs qui servit de base au « Shebeṭ Yehudah » de son descendant Salomon ibn Verga, ainsi que plusieurs traités scientifiques, dont un sur un instrument astronomique de son invention, achevé à Lisbonne vers 1457.
