Antiques dealer from a Jewish family of Hamadan; son of Dr. Benjamin Abolghassem Mahboubian (born in Hamadan in 1868, physician and archaeologist). He founded in 1961 the Mahboubian Gallery in New York, then in 1970 in London, bringing together family collections of pre- and post-Islamic Iranian art. He published a reference work on the subject.
