Auteur kabbaliste qui vécut à Prague aux seizième et dix-septième siècles, fils d'Akiba et frère d'Isaïe Horowitz. Il rédigea « Nishmat Shabbethai ha-Lewi », traité kabbalistique sur la nature de l'âme, paru à Prague en 1616, et « Shefa Ṭal », autre compendium kabbalistique publié à Prague en 1612 puis réédité à Francfort-sur-le-Main en 1719, souvent réimprimé et recommandé par son cousin Shabbethai le Jeune.
