Éditeur et travailleur communautaire américain; né à Philadelphie, Pa., le 3 janvier 1864; éducation à l'Université de Pennsylvanie, à celle de Cambridge, Angleterre, et au Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Hoffman fut l'éditeur et l'un des fondateurs de "The Jewish Exponent" (Philadelphie); président de la congrégation Beth Israel de Philadelphie; président du District No. 3, I.O.B.B.; et fut l'un des fondateurs et pendant quinze ans le secrétaire de l'Association of Jewish Immigrants, à Philadelphie.
