Rabbin allemand né en 1810 à Hürben, en Bavière, mort à Francfort-sur-le-Main le 8 décembre 1888. Enseignant et prédicateur à Heddernheim puis à Wiesbaden, puis rabbin à Langenschwalbach et à Ems, il exerça une grande influence sur les affaires juives du duché de Nassau et fonda en 1846 un séminaire pour instituteurs, subventionné par le gouvernement. Il resta à son poste jusqu'en 1883, date à laquelle il se retira à Francfort.
