Isaac M. Hirschensohn est un talmudiste et bibliophile de Jérusalem né à Pinsk, dans le gouvernement de Minsk, en Russie, en 1844. À l'âge de trois ans, il accompagne son père, Jacob Mordekhaï Hirschensohn, à Jérusalem, où il reçoit son instruction talmudique. Bibliophile passionné, il constitue une précieuse bibliothèque hébraïque et fonde un établissement d'imprimerie pour publier des manuscrits rares, dont l'ouvrage de Nissim bar Reuben sur le traité Meguila (Jérusalem, 1883), le Bet ha-Beḥirah de Menahem bar Salomon de Perpignan sur le traité Yoma (1884) et un recueil de responsa en faveur de l'agriculture pendant l'année de chemita (1887).
