Siegmund Herzl est un négociant et romancier autrichien né à Vienne le 26 mai 1830 et mort dans cette ville le 9 février 1889. Il publie notamment Liederbuch eines Dorfpoeten (1853), Lieder eines Gefangenen (1874) et Prager Elegien (1880), et traduit également les poèmes de Petőfi ; il se retire des affaires en 1885.
