Albrecht Herzfeld est un acteur autrichien né le 7 juin 1840 à Vienne, fils d'Adolf Herzfeld. Après une formation au gymnase de sa ville natale et un apprentissage dans le commerce, il abandonne comme son père la vie mercantile pour le théâtre, débutant à Linz en 1857 et prenant part comme volontaire à la guerre austro-italienne de 1859, avant d'occuper des engagements théâtraux à Brünn, Leipzig, au Hoftheater de Mannheim, au Stadttheater de Leipzig en 1877, au Stadttheater de Vienne en 1878 et au Hoftheater de Stuttgart en 1879. Il quitte la scène en 1889, s'installe en Carinthie, puis à Ratisbonne en 1900, où il se consacre à l'écriture théâtrale.
