Juriste britannique d'origine juive galicienne, titulaire de la chaire Whewell de droit international à Cambridge (1938–1955) puis juge à la Cour internationale de justice (1955–1960). Figure fondatrice du droit international des droits de l'homme ; ses parents et frères et sœurs furent assassinés par les nazis en 1942. Le Lauterpacht Centre for International Law de Cambridge porte son nom.
