Ludimar Hermann est un physiologiste allemand né à Berlin le 21 octobre 1838, docteur en médecine de Berlin en 1859. Il exerce dans sa ville natale puis devient en 1865 privat-docent à l'université, avant d'être nommé en 1868 professeur de physiologie à Zurich puis, en 1884, à Königsberg. Auteur d'un Lehrbuch der Physiologie (12e éd., Berlin, 1900) et d'un Handbuch der Physiologie en six volumes (Leipzig, 1879), il fonde en outre en 1873 les Physiologische Jahresberichte.
