Professor of Hebrew Language and Literature at Yeshiva University (New York), specialist in Assyriology and Northwest Semitic languages (Ph.D. Columbia 1972). Author of more than thirty articles on Semitic lexicography. He wrote a lexical companion of Akkadian to Biblical Hebrew and co-authored the history of the Aleppo Codex.
