Armand-Lazare Hayem est un écrivain français né à Paris le 24 juillet 1845 et mort dans cette ville en 1889, fils de Simon Hayem. Ardent défenseur des idées républicaines puis adepte des doctrines de Proudhon, il est élu conseiller général du canton de Montmorency en 1871, échouant en revanche aux élections de 1876 et de 1881. Il publie notamment Le Mariage (1872), Le Collier et L'Être social (1881), La Science, l'homme au XIXe siècle (1885), Le Don Juanisme (1886) et Vérités et apparences (1891).
