Solomon Alexander Hart est un peintre et bibliothécaire de la Royal Academy de Londres, né à Plymouth en avril 1806 et mort à Londres le 11 juin 1881. Entré comme étudiant à la Royal Academy en 1823, il expose son premier tableau à l'huile, Instruction, à la British Institution en 1828, est élu membre associé en 1835 puis académicien en 1840, professeur de peinture de 1854 à 1863, et devient bibliothécaire de l'institution en 1864, après un séjour en Italie entrepris en 1841. Parmi ses œuvres juives figurent Hannah, mère de Samuel, et La Conférence entre Manassé ben Israël et Oliver Cromwell, acquise par F. D. Mocatta puis offerte à Jews' College.
