Haman, fils de Hammedata, dit l'Agaguite, est le grand vizir du roi Assuérus dans le livre d'Esther, descendant d'Agag, roi des Amalécites, resté dans la mémoire juive comme « le persécuteur des Juifs ». Vexé de ce que Mardochée refuse de se prosterner devant lui, il obtient du roi l'autorisation d'exterminer les Juifs du royaume, mais son complot est déjoué par la reine Esther, qui le dénonce au roi lors d'un banquet ; il est alors pendu à la potence qu'il avait dressée pour Mardochée, et ses dix fils sont exécutés le même jour. La tradition rabbinique l'identifie à Memoukan, l'un des sept princes de la cour d'Assuérus.
