Born in 1881 in the village of Narwa in Iraqi Kurdistan, he moved in adulthood to the city of Amadiya to lead its community. He translated biblical and traditional texts into the Judeo-Aramaic (neo-Aramaic) of the region and composed sermons, piyoutim and a commentary on the Zohar. He died on 29 Tammouz 5741 (1981).
