Né en 1881 au village de Narwa au Kurdistan irakien, il gagna à l'âge adulte la ville d'Amadiya pour en diriger la communauté. Il traduisit des textes bibliques et traditionnels dans le judéo-araméen (néo-araméen) de la région et composa sermons, piyoutim et un commentaire du Zohar. Il mourut le 29 Tammouz 5741 (1981).
