Born in the Mellah (Jewish quarter) of Marrakech, rabbi of French nationality. State doctorate holder in history (on medieval Jewish thought, the work of Rabbi Nissim of Marseille) and doctorate in clinical psychology (Paris-Descartes), he pursued concurrently a rabbinical career spanning more than sixty years and an academic career. He was appointed Grand Rabbi of the Consistory of France in 2019.
