Talmudiste espagnol, né à Zamora vers 1460 et mort à Salonique en 1516. Après avoir étudié le Talmud sous R. Samuel Valensi, il s'établit à Salonique lors de l'expulsion des juifs d'Espagne en 1492, où il rédigea son 'En Ya'aḳob, recueil des passages aggadiques du Talmud destiné à faire connaître l'esprit éthique de la littérature talmudique. L'impression commença en 1516 mais Ḥabib mourut avant son achèvement ; son fils Lévi la mena à terme, et l'ouvrage, devenu très populaire, connut plus de trente éditions, dont l'une des additions majeures figure dans toutes les éditions depuis 1684.
