Paul Guttmann est un médecin et auteur médical allemand né à Ratibor, en Haute-Silésie prussienne, le 9 septembre 1833, et mort à Berlin le 24 mai 1893, docteur en médecine en 1858. Praticien à Berlin, privat-docent en 1867 puis médecin-chef de l'hôpital municipal de Moabit en 1879, il publie avec Albert Eulenburg Die Physiologie und Pathologie des Sympaticus (Berlin, 1873 ; couronné à Londres en 1879 du prix Astley-Cooper) et un manuel de méthodes d'examen clinique (Berlin, 1884), et dirige de 1885 à 1893 le Journal für Practische Aerzte.
