Moïse Gutmann est un rabbin bavarois né à Baiersdorf en 1805 et mort à Redwitz le 1er février 1862, fils de Yom-Tob Gutmann. Formé à l'université d'Erlangen, il est élu rabbin de district de Redwitz, fonction qu'il occupe pendant trente-cinq ans, et se distingue comme le premier rabbin de Bavière à réunir formation académique et solide culture talmudique au service de la cause du Réforme, comme en témoignent ses contributions à la Zeitschrift für Jüdische Theologie de Geiger. Il publie une traduction annotée des Apocryphes (Altona, 1841).
