Born in Pest in 1851 into a Jewish family of Budapest (parents Moritz Kadelburg and Johanna née Hasenfeld). First an actor, he abandoned the stage in 1894 to write; he became one of the most prolific and performed German-language playwrights at the turn of the twentieth century. Died in Berlin in 1925. His brother Heinrich (1856–1910) was also an actor.

Acteur et auteur dramatique allemand ; né le 26 janvier 1851. Il fit ses débuts à Leipzig en 1869, et deux ans plus tard joua au Wallnertheater de Berlin. Il eut beaucoup de succès dans les rôles comiques, mais abandonna la scène pour écrire des comédies et des farces. Ses pièces les plus connues (certaines écrites en collaboration avec Blumenthal et Von Schönthan) sont : « In Civil » ; « Die Berühmte Frau » ; « Grossstadtluft » ; « Die Orientreise » ; « Der Herr Senator » ; « Zwei Wappen » ; « Der Wilde Baron » ; « Migräne » ; « Mauerblümchen » ; « Zum Wolthätigen Zweck » ; et « Im Weissen Rössl ».
