Horace Günzburg, baron, est un philanthrope russe né le 8 février 1833 à Zvenigorodka, dans le gouvernement de Kiev. Fondateur en 1863 de la Société pour la promotion de la culture parmi les Juifs de Russie, il en devient président en 1878 à la mort de son père Joseph Günzburg, et consacre sa fortune et son énergie à l'amélioration du statut légal, économique et moral de ses coreligionnaires, multipliant les démarches auprès du gouvernement russe. Expert consulté en 1870 par la commission sur la question juive, président du congrès juif de Saint-Pétersbourg en 1882, il préside depuis 1893 le comité central de la Société agricole juive et reçoit le titre de baron en 1871.
