Aaron Levy Green est un rabbin anglais né à Londres en août 1821 et mort le 11 mars 1883. Lecteur à la Great Synagogue dès quatorze ans, puis ministre du culte à Bristol à dix-sept ans, il publie en 1850 un pamphlet contre le révérend Croly, opposant à l'admission des Juifs au Parlement, avant d'être élu en 1851 second lecteur de la Great Synagogue de Londres, puis en 1855 premier lecteur et prédicateur de la synagogue annexe d'Old Portland Street. Secrétaire honoraire de Jews' College dès 1852, il s'illustre en 1881 parmi les premiers à alerter l'opinion sur les persécutions russes.
