Paul Eduard Gottheil est un missionnaire protestant allemand né à Fraustadt le 5 avril 1818 et mort à Stuttgart en 1893, frère du rabbin Gustav Gottheil. Converti au christianisme, il entre en 1848 au service de la British Society for the Propagation of the Gospel Among the Jews et exerce comme pasteur à Cannstadt puis au Diakonissenhaus de Stuttgart, où il se distingue comme missionnaire auprès des Juifs. Il publie notamment Der Messias, Israels Hoffnung en 1863 et un texte bilingue hébreu-allemand, Mischan Lechem, en 1871.
