Samuel Gordon est un romancier anglais né à Buk, en Allemagne, le 10 septembre 1871, arrivé en Angleterre avec ses parents en 1883. Nommé secrétaire de la Great Synagogue de Londres en 1894, il publie plusieurs romans et recueils de nouvelles consacrés à la vie et au caractère juifs, dont Daughters of Shem (1898), Sons of the Covenant (1900) et Strangers at the Gate (1902), ainsi que deux ouvrages hors de ce registre, In Years of Tradition (1897) et The New Galatea (1901).
