Gonzalo García de Santa María est un évêque espagnol et adversaire des Juifs né à Burgos en 1379, baptisé à onze ans avec son père Paul de Burgos. Nommé archidiacre de Briviesca en 1412, puis évêque d'Astorga, de Plasencia et enfin de Sigüenza, il se distingue par sa connaissance de la littérature juive autant que par son hostilité déclarée envers les Juifs. Délégué d'Aragon au concile de Bâle, il y pousse à des décisions défavorables aux Juifs et veille à l'exécution rigoureuse des lois anti-juives décrétées par l'antipape Benoît XIII.
