Joseph Goldstein est un chantre et compositeur autrichien né à Kecskemét, en Hongrie, le 27 mars 1836, et mort à Vienne le 17 juin 1899. Fils d'un hazzan de Neutra, il lui succède dès l'âge de douze ans avant d'être nommé en 1857 premier chantre du Leopoldstädter Tempel de Vienne, la plus grande synagogue de la ville, poste qu'il occupe jusqu'à sa mort. Il publie notamment un recueil de chants liturgiques, Shire Yeshurun, en 1865, et un requiem en 1892.
