Born and died in Rome, from an antifascist Italian Jewish family, she suffered as a teenager the persecutions of the Fascist squadre. Translator (from English, French and Hebrew), writer and essayist, she was one of the first women to study at the Italian Rabbinical College and became a figure in the transmission of Jewish tradition, leading study groups on Midrash for many years.
