Expert minier allemand né à Prague, mentionné dans les archives d'État anglaises du règne d'Élisabeth Ire, probablement apparenté à David Gans, établi à Prague en 1564. Actif à Keswick, dans le Cumberland, dès 1581, il introduit en Angleterre de nouveaux procédés de traitement du cuivre et y demeure jusqu'à la fin de 1589 ; en septembre de cette même année, à Bristol, il se proclame juif « en langue hébraïque » devant un pasteur et est arrêté puis envoyé devant le conseil privé à Londres, sans qu'aucune poursuite ne soit engagée.
