Juriste autrichien, né à Prague le 4 octobre 1855. Formé aux universités de Prague, Göttingen et Leipzig, il devient privat-docent en 1883 puis professeur de droit à Prague en 1891, se spécialisant dans le droit minier et le droit de la faillite. Il publie plusieurs ouvrages entre 1883 et 1896 et codirige la « Juristische Vierteljahrsschrift ».
