Rabbin autrichien, né à Ungarisch-Brod, en Moravie, le 21 janvier 1847. Formé à Leipnik puis à Eisenstadt, où il enseigne l'hébreu à l'école rabbinique de Hildesheimer, il étudie ensuite aux universités de Breslau et de Jena et obtient en 1877 son doctorat de Jena et son diplôme rabbinique de Breslau. La même année, il devient rabbin à Kremsier, poste qu'il occupe toujours en 1903. Il publie notamment une éthique de Juda Hallevi (1885) et une histoire des juifs de Kremsier en trois volumes (1896).
