Prédicateur allemand, frère de Bernhard Frankfurter, né à Oberdorf le 13 février 1810, mort le 13 avril 1866, docteur en philosophie des universités de Heidelberg et de Tübingen en 1833. Rabbin suppléant à Lehrensteinfels puis rabbin à Braunsbach, en Wurtemberg, il devient en 1840 prédicateur du temple de Hambourg, s'implique dans l'éducation et est élu en 1848 au Parlement de Hambourg ; proche de la Réforme radicale, il publie avec Berthold Auerbach la « Gallerie der Ausgezeichneten Israeliten Aller Jahrhunderte » (1838) et le pamphlet « Stillstand und Fortschritt » (1841).
