Médecin allemand né le 23 mai 1806 à Berlin, mort dans la même ville le 6 juillet 1872, diplômé de l'université de Berlin en 1830, année où il s'y installe comme médecin spécialisé dans la cure par l'eau. Appelé en 1840 à Ebersdorf, dans la principauté de Reuss, comme médecin-chef de l'hôpital hydrothérapique, il s'installe ensuite à Magdebourg, où il exerce jusqu'en 1848, puis dirige l'établissement hydrothérapique de Berlin jusqu'à sa retraite en 1867 ; il édite de 1856 à 1857 un journal berlinois consacré à l'hydrothérapie et publie plusieurs ouvrages entre 1839 et 1850.
