Érudit et poète italien né à Mantoue en 1615, mort à Florence en 1667, formé au Talmud par son père puis par Shemaya de Medina à Venise. Sa réputation poétique repose surtout sur ses satires contre Shabbethaï Ẓevi et ses partisans, qui répliquèrent en le dénonçant comme hérétique et en s'en prenant à sa maison et à sa vie ; ayant aussi publié un poème condamnant l'étude de la Cabale par les non-initiés, il fut la cible des cabalistes et des rabbins de Mantoue, qui réclamèrent que l'œuvre fût brûlée — controverse interrompue par sa mort, que son frère Immanuel poursuivit en sa défense.
