Rabbin et auteur autrichien né à Budikau, en Bohême, le 12 janvier 1821, docteur en philosophie de l'université de Prague en 1850, rabbin de plusieurs petites communautés du district d'Eger entre 1854 et 1863. Il prépare de nouvelles éditions du lexique rabbinique de Buxtorf (1873) et de la grammaire chaldéenne de Wiener (1882), publie notamment « Kochbuch der Kalliope » (Leipzig, 1896) et dirige la revue mensuelle illustrée « Bikkure ha-'Ittim » (Leipzig, 1863).
