Juriste allemand, fils du grand rabbin de Bamberg, né à Bamberg le 9 octobre 1798 et mort à Fürth le 19 août 1872. Formé au Talmud, il étudie à l'université de Würzburg à partir de 1818 et y obtient son doctorat en droit en 1822 ; refusant de se convertir pour accéder au barreau, il travaille d'abord comme rédacteur puis au tribunal de Bamberg, avant de s'installer en 1831 à Fürth comme secrétaire de la communauté juive. Admis au barreau en 1848, il est fait chevalier de l'ordre de Saint-Michel en 1868, pour son soixante-dixième anniversaire.
