Né à Alger en 1871, il fut l'un des premiers opérateurs des frères Lumière, envoyé projeter et filmer aux États-Unis (1896) puis à travers le monde (funérailles de la reine Victoria, couronnement d'Édouard VII…). Il publia ses mémoires, Tours de manivelle, en 1933.
