Officier français né en 1789 et mort en 1855, formé au Talmud avant de rejoindre Mayence en 1806 et d'être admis à l'École polytechnique. Il entre dans l'armée, devient capitaine d'artillerie en 1813 puis commandant en 1835, participe à la retraite de 1848 et à la campagne de Crimée, avant de se retirer avec sa famille à Metz.
