Ézéchiel, Moses Jacob

Moses Jacob Ezekiel, sculpteur américain, naquit à Richmond, en Virginie, le 28 octobre 1844 ; ancien soldat confédéré formé au Virginia Military Institute, il se tourna vers l'art et étudia la sculpture à Berlin auprès de Rudolph Siemering. Installé ensuite à Rome, il réalisa en 1874 la statue « Religious Liberty », commandée par le B'nai B'rith et inaugurée en 1876 à Fairmount Park, Philadelphie, ainsi que les statues des grands artistes ornant la Corcoran Art Gallery de Washington. Il fut anobli par l'empereur allemand.
