Ferdinand Christophe Ewald fut un pasteur anglais, né près de Bamberg, en Bavière, en 1802, et mort à Norwood, Londres, le 9 août 1874. Entré en 1829 au service de la London Society for Propagating the Gospel Among the Jews, il fut envoyé en 1831 à Tunis, où il œuvra parmi les juifs d'Afrique du Nord jusqu'en 1842, avant de rejoindre Jérusalem comme aumônier jusqu'en 1849. Il contribua en 1853 à la fondation à Londres du Wanderers' Home, refuge pour juifs en quête de conversion et prosélytes démunis.
