Né à Ancône le 13 juillet 1811, mort à Milan le 1er mars 1875. Critique littéraire, journaliste et traducteur italien, il dirigea la « Biblioteca rara » (Daelli) et la « Biblioteca classica economica » (Sonzogno). Auteur de « Profili letterari » (1870), « I precursori del Goldoni » (1872), « Nuovi profili letterari » (4 vol., 1875) ; il édita la Divine Comédie illustrée par Gustave Doré (1868).
