Gabriel Esperanssa fut rabbin à Safed au milieu du XVIIe siècle, contemporain de Jonathan Galante. Recueilli, selon la tradition, comme orphelin par une femme nommée Esperanssa dont il aurait pris le nom, il fut un talmudiste réputé, quoique décrit comme contentieux et dogmatique. Seule a été publiée, parmi ses écrits, sa collectanea sur le Pentateuque.
