Bernhard Eskeles fut un financier autrichien, né à Vienne en 1753 et mort à Hietzing, près de Vienne, le 7 août 1839. De retour d'Amsterdam, il épousa en 1774 une fille de Daniel Itzig et fonda avec son beau-frère Arnstein la maison de banque Arnstein et Eskeles, qui joua un rôle en vue lors du congrès de Vienne. Fondateur en 1816 de la Banque nationale d'Autriche, qu'il dirigea vingt-trois ans, il fut anobli en 1797 et fait baron en 1822.
