Talmudiste russe né à Vitebsk en 1850, mort à Francfort-sur-le-Main le 24 octobre 1884, descendant du Maharal de Prague, de R. Yom-Ṭov Lipman Heller et de R. Moïse Kremer de Wilna. Son « Toledot Anshe Shem » (Varsovie, 1875), tentative de biographies et généalogies de ces ancêtres, ne convainquit guère sur le plan scientifique. Il publia aussi « Migdal Dawid » (Mayence, 1873), « Yad Dawid Tebele » (Lemberg, 1880) et « Ḳohelet Dawid ha-Efrati », sur l'Ecclésiaste (Berlin, 1884), et dirigea, avec Israël Hildesheimer, la revue rabbinique « Etz Ḥayyim » (Lemberg, 1881), tout en collaborant avec R. Israël Lipkin (Salanter) à la revue « Tebunah ».
