Grand rabbin honoraire de Mogador, au Maroc, né à Rabat en 1809, mort à Londres le 9 janvier 1886. Installé à Mogador à dix-sept ans, il fut élu grand rabbin de la communauté en 1840 et exerça en outre le commerce à partir de 1881 ; vice-consul honoraire d'Autriche, il fut décoré en 1873 de l'ordre François-Joseph. Auteur du « Toḳpo shel Yosef », un traité de législation juive, il introduisit à Gibraltar l'« Importa Nacional », une taxe annuelle sur le commerce des juifs au bénéfice des pauvres.
